Consumer representative opportunity – End-of-life and Palliative Care WA Cancer and Palliative Care Network, closing date 16 May

The Health Department are commencing an independent review into specialist palliative care service models.  They are seeking two consumer representatives to help identify the scope and objectives for this review.

Information about the project

The specialist palliative care service models include: community, inpatient, outpatient, consultancy and regional palliative care teams. The independent review will be undertaken from the patient’s perspective.

The Focus Group is being held with a range of service providers, researchers and two consumers, to identify the scope and objectives for the procurement of the independent review.

 

The commitment

Initially, one focus group meeting on Thursday 30 May 2019. There is the possibility of one follow up meeting, depending on the outcome of first focus group.

Meetings will take place at Health Department of Western Australia, 189 Royal Street, East Perth

 

Support and resources available to the consumer representative

Consumer participation payment available.

Provision of background reading before meeting (this will be minimal).  Phone support prior to meeting, if required.

 

Skills and experience sought

Consumer representatives who have had experience with the care provided by specialist palliative care services in WA.  This could be services received directly by the consumer themselves, or services provided to a family member or friend, or in a carer’s capacity. The range of specialist palliative care services includes: community (eg Silver Chain Home Hospice), outpatient (eg Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital), inpatient (hospice care), consultative (eg Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital).
