The committee – Westminister Day Surgery Governance Committee

The Governance Committee has a responsibility to ensure the provision of safe and quality patient care and ensuring that high standards of professional practice and ethics are maintained by all persons caring for patients in the organisation. By planning, managing and monitoring the performance of Westminster Day Surgery, the Committee is able to identify areas in need of improvement and implement accordingly. The Committee reviews quality and risk and reports to the Medical Advisory Committee.

The role

Westminister Day Surgery are looking for one person to join this Committee as a consumer representative. A background or knowledge of day surgery would be desirable as well as having a sound knowledge of the WA Health service. It would be helpful if applicants also understand the local demographic. It would be favourable if applicants have had Hand Hygiene training but this can be facilitated at WDS.

The consumer will be given an orientation to WDS, fire, health and safety.

The committee meets quarterly at the Surgery during working hours and meetings usual last an hour. There is free on-site parking. Nearest train stations are Stirling and Warwick, then a bus or taxi ride. A consumer participation payment of $35/hour is paid and travel expenses will also be reimbursed.
